Baltic
Exchange
Choral
music from Estonia and Latvia
On
Saturday 22 March The Meljon Singers will be taking their audience to
the Baltics… Well, almost! This concert is actually taking place at
Holy Trinity Church, South Woodford but the sounds of local traffic
will be exchanged for the sounds of uplifting music from the Baltics.
Thanks
to the likes of choral enthusiasts like Gareth Malone (The Choir and
Sing While You Work, BBC2) and the emergence of numerous Rock Choir’s
up and down the country, more and more people are finding out just
how much fun it is to sing in and listen to a choir. The Meljon
Singers are well experienced in that department as they will be
celebrating their 25th
Anniversary next year and this March the choir presents “Baltic
Exchange”, a collection of songs from a region where the choral
music tradition is deeply engrained.
Support
your local choir whilst being entertained with the music of Estonian
and Latvian composers such as Dubra,
Pärt and Prauliņš. If you’re aware of these composers and/or
Meljon, you know you’re in for a treat but whether you usually
listen to classical, jazz, pop or any other type of music, the
beautiful voice of Meljon is bound to inspire!
