Their concert announcement promises a great concert experience of high artistic quality: “From traditional shape-note singing to Paul Crabtree’s The Valley of Delight: Death and Resurrection, the expressive singing of the Westminster Choir explores the gifts and challenges each day presents to the world. The program includes Uģis Prauliņš’ Laudibus in sanctis, Johannes Brahms’ Abendständchen, and much more.”

The Westminster Choir is a choir with a long tradition, composed of students at Westminster Choir College, one of the most renowned conservatories of music in the world and part of Rider University’s Westminster College of the Arts in Princeton, New Jersey.

Auch das Rockfestival in der Klaus-Groth-Schule in Tornesch am 29. April, unter anderem mit der Aufführung „Odi et Amo“ von Ugis Praulins, ist Teil der Höhepunkte des Konzertjahrs 2017.

Die Chorknaben Uetersen führen Ugis Praulins´ Oratorium "Odi et amo" in der Klaus-Groth-Schule Tornesch auf. Verschiedene junge Bands aus dem Kreis sind mit dabei: Aus Elmshorn Eva und Mia sowie Creative name, aus Uetersen und Tornesch die Band Chocolate bar sowie Vanessa Valera Rojas. Konzert: Sa 29.4., 16.30-21 Uhr, Klaus-Groth-Str. 11.

Bremen/Riga (dpa/lni) - Musikalische Begegnung zweier Chöre: Der Kammerchor der Hochschule für Künste (HfK) und Universität Bremen und der gemischte Chor der Jazeps Vitols Musikakademie Lettland werden im Sommer gemeinsam auftreten. Zunächst ist am 27. Mai ein Konzert in der Petrikirche der lettischen Hauptstadt Riga geplant. Im Juni werden beide Chöre dann zusammen in Bremen singen, wie am Mittwoch das Goethe-Institut in Riga mitteilte. Das Programm unter Leitung der beiden Dirigenten Friederike Woebcken und Maris Sirmais beinhalte Werke von Felix Mendelssohn, Eriks Esenvalds, Imants Ramins und Ugis Praulins. Joe Miller will also conduct the Festival’s ever popular Westminster Choir Concerts at the Cathedral Church of St. Luke and St. Paul. The choir, lauded as “remarkable for its precision, unanimity, and power” by The New York Times, will explore its striking sonic capabilities in a program titled A Thousand Years to Live (May 29 and June 3). It will feature works by American composers Dominick DiOrio, Kile Smith, and Paul Crabtree, along with Brahms’s Three Songs, op. 42 for a cappella choir, Latvian composer Uģis Prauliņš’s Laudibus in Sanctis, and music from the Sacred Harp and Ring Shout traditions.
 "Laudibus in Sanctis" (“Praise the Holiest” from Psalm 150), composed by Ugis Praulins, called upon the singers to explore not only the extremes of their dynamic palette but also of their tessituras. The basses produced clear, articulated low notes while the sopranos sang the high pitches with grace and a sense of ease that belies how difficult such notes really are. NORTHERN LIGHTS Latvian and Scandinavian Contemporary Spiritual Music Concert

The concert will be part of the Grand Prix of Nations Riga 2017 & 3rd European Choir Games and presents works by Ola Gjeilo, Ēriks Ešenvalds, Rihards Dubra and other Scandinavian and Latvian composers. A highlight will be the premiere of a new work "Viderunt omnes" for boys’ choirs which was especially composed by one of the best known contemporary Latvian composers, Uģis Prauliņš for this concert.

Arran de la seva participació en l´11è Simposi Mundial de Música Coral, que se celebra a Barcelona del 22 al 29 de juliol, el Westminster Choir de Princeton (New Jersey, Estats Units) oferirà un concert a la Basílica de Santa Maria de Montserrat, amb entrada lliure, el dissabte 29 de juliol, a les 21h.
Sota la direcció de Joe Miller, cantaran peces d´autors contemporanis, com William Harris, Ugis Praulin, Paul Crabtree, Dominick DiOrio, Kim André Arnesen, Warren Martin i Bernat Vivancos; a més del renaixentista Josquin des Prez.
