Join us for an enchanting evening as we present the North American premiere of The Emperor’s New Clothes, a delightful musical adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s classic fairy tale. This piece is composed by one of our choir’s beloved composers, Uģis Prauliņš. The performance will feature both adult and children’s choirs, with narration and interactive elements that invite audience participation.

The evening will be a vibrant celebration of choral music, with Shumayela, under the direction of Kimberley Denis, joining forces with Pro Coro Canada.

Vokalforum Graz. Franz Herzog, conductor. HELMUT LIST HALLE (Graz, Austria) 
„Aus allen Ländern der Welt kamen Reisende nach der Stadt des Kaisers und bewunderten diese, das Schloss und den Garten. Doch wenn sie die Nachtigall zu hören bekamen, sagten sie alle: ‚Das ist doch das Beste!‘” Unscheinbar für das Auge, wird die Nachtigall dank ihres betörenden Gesangs zur Retterin des Kaisers von China. Der lettische Komponist Uģis Prauliņš verwandelte das Märchen von Hans Christian Andersen im Jahr 2010 in ein sphärisches Chorwerk. Das Vocalforum Graz unter der Leitung von Franz Herzog bringt das imposante Klangmärchen auf die Bühne der Helmut List Halle. Josefstadt-Star Michael Dangl erzählt die Geschichte, und Maria Fedotova haucht mit ihren Flöten dem grazilen Singvogel Leben ein. Ein wunderbarer Nachmittag für die ganze Familie!
