Pirmatskaņojums 2013.g. 7. jūlijā Dziesmu un deju svētku Noslēguma koncertā Mežaparka Lielajā estrādē.
Virsdiriģents: Ivars Cinkuss.

XXV Vispārējie latviešu Dziesmu un XV Deju svētki šogad pārsteigs ne tikai ar lielu dalībnieku skaitu, bet arī ar dažādiem koncertiem, no kuriem visnozīmīgākais būs svētku noslēguma koncerts «Līgo», kurā pasaules pirmatskaņojumu piedzīvos komponista Uģa Prauliņa darbs «Svinēšanas dziesma».

Latvju lirikas un etnoroka sintēze koriem
«Ir viens liels skaņdarbs speciāli pasūtīts un komponēts tieši šiem svētkiem, proti, Uģa Prauliņa «Līgo Jāņu nakts mistērija», kas apvieno visas iepriekš minētās dalībnieku grupas, kas būs tāda svētku iztrakošanās, svētku eksplozija, kad mēs atraisām bizes un labā nozīmē uzspridzinām emocionāli visu mūsu telpu,» etnoroka sintēzi raksturo Dziesmu un deju svētku virsdiriģents Ivars Cinkuss.
The 25th All Latvian Song Festival and 15th Dance Festival

Since the first one in 1873, Latvia’s Song Festivals have been celebrations of great music and a small nation’s identity. And from June 30 to July 7, 2013, the once-in-five-years event  will again bring colourful outfits, joyous dancing and glorious voices to Riga. The traditional highlight of the festival is the Closing Concert at the Mežaparks Arena, when thousands of folk-costumed performers magically harmonise. The theme of this year’s concert on July 7 will be “Ligo,” an ancient spiritual word chanted on Midsummer Eve in homage to the sun. A new work specially composed by Uģis Prauliņš  for this year’s festival will be performed (Ivars Cinkuss, conductor).

Musical Director Anthony Pasquill has brought together secular and sacred works by 20th Century composers from Estonia, Latvia, Sweden and Finland that capture the spirit of the Baltic region.

From Latvia the program features Missa Rigensis by Uģis Prauliņš written in the style of the great Renaissance Masses ‘without overwhelming force or volume’. Prauliņš’ background in choirs as a child and rock bands in the 1970s and 1980s shines through in this beautiful and varied work.

The program also features Swedish composer Sven-David Sandström with his twelve-part choral work Kom till mig composed in 2010 and his 1986 composition Hear my prayer, O Lord. Beginning with Henry Purcell’s unfinished work from 300 years earlier Sandström gradually strays from Purcell’s familiar prayer to an eerie and lonely place before turning again to the light

This Sunday, the Saint Louis Chamber Chorus will perform “The Ancients Speak: Old English.” It’s the third in a series of concerts showcasing compositions inspired by ancient languages, from Greek to Slavic.
The signature element of this concert is the notoriously complex Christmas cantata “A Boy Was Born” by Benjamin Britten. The a capella choir will perform the cantata in its entirety, as well as works by Richard Rodney Bennett, Ugis Praulins and Yakov Gubanov. Another highlight is the world premiere of British composer Francis Pott's “Good Day, Sir Christëmas" which was commissioned by the Saint Louis Chamber Chorus.
